Maynard G. Krebs

‘Maynard G. Krebs’ was the original name of Mickey Mouse. The moniker was suggested to Walt Disney by actor Douglas Fairbanks at a late-night poker game.

Walt’s wife Dorothy lobbied successfully for the┬áchange to ‘Mickey Mouse.’ However, the monogram ‘MGK’ can still be seen on Mickey’s sailor cap in the early animated short Steamboat Willie.
