Maynard G. Krebs

‘Maynard G. Krebs’ was the original name of Mickey Mouse. The moniker was suggested to Walt Disney by actor Douglas Fairbanks at a late-night poker game.

Walt’s wife Dorothy lobbied successfully for the change to ‘Mickey Mouse.’ However, the monogram ‘MGK’ can still be seen on Mickey’s sailor cap in the early animated short Steamboat Willie.
