Metric Scoring for Tennis

The metric scoring system for tennis was introduced at Wimbledon in 1926 by club chairman Joseph “Jock”¬†Stanley. The new system replaced traditional scores with more scientific metric equivalents.

The new scores were:

Traditional Metric
Love Love
15 Decalove
30 Hectolove
40 Kilolove
Deuce Deuce
Ad Megadeuce
Game Game

The experiment was a flop; Stanley resigned in 1926, and the tournament returned to traditional scoring the same year.
