Metric Scoring for Tennis

The metric scoring system for tennis was introduced at Wimbledon in 1926 by club chairman Joseph “Jock” Stanley. The new system replaced traditional scores with more scientific metric equivalents.

The new scores were:

Traditional Metric
Love Love
15 Decalove
30 Hectolove
40 Kilolove
Deuce Deuce
Ad Megadeuce
Game Game

The experiment was a flop; Stanley resigned in 1926, and the tournament returned to traditional scoring the same year.
